Musing on pg 164- "...on the other side of the bars were two boys, and they were holding guns like the ones the New Horizon crew had used." This makes me think who is the main bad guy, Seth or Mather? Note: Seth could be a good guy with armed goons but it's my opinion.
Opinion on pg 176: "Amanda was so enthralled with the blossoms that she didn't notice when Waverly took one backward step...." These guys on the New Horizon are weak minded because Waverly can give some obvious signs telling her thoughts but she still tricks them, after carefully sabotaging a space ship.

Why are people from the New horizon asking Waverley if she is reading to have kids?
Response - Musing/Opinion P164 : “Seth had gone insane” I agree with this statement. Seth made it like he did most of the work saving the girls when it was really Kieran. It’s really shocking how Kieran all of sudden become a bad guy. He changed the story. He even drugged Kieran, locked him up and attacked him very harshly.
Response - Musing P180: “She’s just a child! Leave her alone! She’s just a child!” I found it interesting how Amanda tried to defend her. It’s good knowing that there is someone on the other side who may be willing to help you.
Question - Discussion Question Is is possible that later Amanda will help Waverly save her mom and escape? If she had to choose between Waverly and Mather, who would she choose?
pg 155 “ You disabled the environmental control system when you crashed into the dome. We’re going to have to repair it in the OneMen.”
Opinion
In this part of the story I thought that Seth is trying to undermine Kerien and gain control. This was one of the reason that I thought that Kerein was the good guy. Kerien saved the parents with only a little help from Seth. Seth clearly cannot be happy that Kerien saved the parents and he did not.
pg 112 “ You stopped the elevators we are stuck in level two!”
Opinion
Kerein clearly can’t control the ship and when he is flustered he makes stupid mistakes. He does not stay cool like a real leader. In this part of the story I thought Seth would be a better leader in times of chaos because he knows the ship better, and does not rush things when he is flustered.
Clarifying Question
I was wondering what happens when food utensils or plates break? They don’t have any way of remaking them and they have been on the ship for 40 plus years.
Pg #: 161 With a twisting fear, Kieran realized he was at war. He had been all along without realizing it, and he was loosing.
In the current situation the boys should be working together, and not fighting amongst themselves for who should be in charge. They all want the girls back and would have a much better time if they all worked together instead of turning on each other.

Pg #: 171 “My family came from British Columbia.” “The mountains or the coast?” “Mountains.”
Even though Waverly is not from the same part of British Columbia as I am, I still relate to her being from the same province as me. I have been to the mountain areas of BC, so I have an idea of where she exactly she is from.

Page 163: "'Oh, right. I'm sure he [Seth] never bullies you.'" Opinion. Before reading this passage, I never considered the possibility that Seth was a bully. I had always thought that he was just naturally an unpleasant person to be around, but this passage made me reconsider my thoughts on him and I've realized that he does show the personality of a bully.
Page 164: "'Guns make it easier.'" Text to world connection. I think that Seth's response to Kieran's question on why he's using guns to enforce his orders sounded exactly like those of a typically dictator or control freak from Earth. The fact that he is enforcing his rule using guns shows that he has turned the ship into a thugocracy, using his cronies Sealy and Max to enforce his rule, using violence to get his way, shows that he is incapable of giving orders without the threat of violence.

1. "Our nourishment is hope." (66) I like that, I feel like that is a strong enemy against dystopias, which are commonly controlled by fear. What is stronger than that is hope, and I like how they associate it with nourishment because nourishment is energy, and in the same sense, hope is the energy that keeps people fighting back and willing. 2. “You’re so naïve.” Felicity laughed scornfully. “Don’t you see what people are? They’re animals. Every one of them.” (72) I find that naivity is what starts out as a factor in most people in dystopian novels, or at least to us. To us we are observing, not living in their world, whereas they have grown and lived in lies and whatever has happened to make them believe what they do. It's not a bad thing, they eventually learn. Being naive isn't always bad either, sometimes that helps protect us from concepts and happenings that are too harsh on us mentally. I think the naiivity Felicity finds in Waverly is what keeps Waverly with hope, and what brings Felicity down in low spirits, because on a constant parade of bad thoughts its hard to let the good ones in. musing/opinion

Pg 115. “…he didn’t have the same masculine fierceness that made girls watch set has a he worked in his garden”
Opinion: This quote is saying that guys need to have a muscular build in order to girls. I do not agree with this at all. There are many people in the world that look pretty good, but don’t have any muscles what so ever and they still have a girlfriend. Having a muscular build may help, but it doesn’t mean that the other guys are out of the race.
Pg 284. “’I’ll be right back, “Kieran said. “please don’t go anywhere, okay?”
Opinion: Why does Kieran even say this to her. It is as if he doesn’t trust her anymore. I know that she already ran off once during the raid at the beginning of the book, but it wasn’t her choice. She probably would have died if she had tried to go with Kieran. She made the right choice.

Opinion: This is the gist of advice that I have carried throughout my life whenever time gets hard. Most people say that you should "stay positive" when times get hard or to "look on the bright side". I completely disagree. Nobody should have to just sit there and pretend like everything is okay when times get hard. What people should really be doing is just let all of the awful emotions come. And during this time, it's going to be hard to bear through it. But eventually they will go away and you will rebuild yourself and be happy again rather than becoming a ticking time bomb.
